MORE proposed a holistic approach in upgrading the quality of homes in the UK. Combining investment from public and private sectors, we want to give residents additional, flexible and usable space. With efficient tools and competent teams, the aim was to upcycle the existing housing stock.

Our solution consisted in modular structures applicable to existing and new buildings. The proposal sought to work within the existing fabric of our consolidated city through precise interventions. Where a need is justified for a new build, the plug-in becomes the base modular element for a more flexible and generous layout open for future expansion.

The design principle is based on the idea that on completion of the envelop residents will have the possibility to inhabit and tailor the new extensions including collective spaces according to their needs. They will then engage with selected local builders, designers, suppliers, trades to configure the residential units following the specific guidance set in the Lease established by the Local Authority. This approach would stimulate the local economy and community connections.
