The Apartment

Type: Refurbishment
Use: Retail / Bespoke Atelier
Client: Jennifer Chamandi
Location: Mayfair London
Contract: £300K
Interior Design: Agata Wejchert
Photography: Todd Sutherland

The project entailed the refurbishment of an existing office space apartment into a unique bespoke environment where our client can showcase her collection of luxury footwear, create bespoke shoes with her clients and host a wide range of events. The interior design for this unique brand is inspired by the patented design of the shoes (the eye of the needle in the heel), the elegance and precision of the collections and dedication to quality, intricate detailing and a timeless elegance.

The project is a combination of traditional and contemporary design, while staying true to the classic architecture of Mayfair. Working with an excellent contractor alongside a skilled joinery company resulted in the delivery of a unique sequence of spaces and moods, each telling a different element of the brand story.  The brand’s DNA is visible throughout the design includes several bespoke specialist elements including a Shoe Wardrobe, infinity symbol inspired chandelier, fluted glass doors, bespoke cabinet handles, tiles patterns and furniture and tapestry artwork (showcasing the selection of iconic materials and colours). At the same time, the space is highly functional, both for clients, as well as the brand team.

The showroom can benefit society as a meeting place for women on a mission - women supporting women in a wide range of social issues (mental health, coaching, empowerment, networking). Due to building restrictions, the showroom was designed to utilize the existing systems. However, where possible, sustainability was achieved by allowing for  natural ventilation and daylight, locally sourced materials, energy efficient lighting systems, flexible and adaptable spaces and multi-functional furniture.
