This beautiful rural structure is set in a traditional village at the heart of the Italian Alps, the Dolomites. The conversion project consists in the restoration and refurbishment of the building working within tight constraints set by the environment and local planning codes. Working with a local team of builder and technical experts, CCA has provided design guidance for the project.

This includes the retention of structure and fabric and maximum development areas allowed within the existing building. The design, contemporary in any other aspect, proposes to keep to a simple pallet of materials and maximise views onto the breathtaking surrounding landscape.

The use of prefabricated Cross Laminated Timber and timber cladding along with MVHR and wood chips burner contributed to the sustainability and energy efficiency of the scheme.
